Synthesis provided architectural and interior design services for a new Capital District YMCA facility to be built in Schenectady, New York. This two-story, 60,000 square foot building will be a state-of-the-art facility, incorporating the latest trends in fitness center design.
The project is part of an urban revitalization effort to convert an abandoned city brownfield site into an active multiuse site. The design is contemporary, while using traditional materials to be compatible with its urban surroundings.
This YMCA is conceived as a gathering place for children, adults and families and accomplishes this goal through a variety of meeting and gathering areas, as well as through a variety of programs.
