Synthesis designed this multi-building estate to be reminiscent of an Adirondack camp. The site is comprised of a guest house, boat house, carriage house, and main house. The two-story main house is nestled into an hourglass-shaped yard to take advantage of the dramatic views. A large outdoor patio and gazebo extends the living space. A stone seawall and detailed site features augement the stunning Adirondack architecture.The home features a twelve-seat theater, stone fireplaces, a home office, and five bedrooms. A central great room organizes the open plan and large window groupings fill the interior with natural light. Post-and-beam framing exposes wood ceilings and hardwood floors complement custom cherry beadboard wainscot and trim.Exterior details include four inches of stone veneer, a specially detailed slate roof, and custom-colored clad windows. Cedar shakes and siding are finished in a combination of natural and painted finishes.

Synthesis designed this prominent estate on the shores of Lake George, and also coordinated all the interior finishes, fixtures, and furnishings. The estate is rare in that it exhibits a high degree of craftsmanship and natural Adirondack materials in every detail, from wall finishes, to outlet cover plates. Cut stone fireplaces, natural woodwork in the “Adirondack” style, a rich variety of wall treatments including venetian plaster and textured stucco, and custom Adirondack furniture compliment the well proportioned and well arranged living spaces in this complex of three buildings: the grand main house, the guest house, and the boathouse.

Synthesis designed this lake side home on the foundations of an earlier structure. This major reconstruction project sought to maximize views of the lake and capitalize on the existing building’s proximity to the shores. The main floor of the home was designed as an open great room, which enhanced the spaciousness of the floor plan and provided unobstructed views of the lake.The steeply sloping site presented challenges for designing and locating a new two-car Adirondack-style garage, entry stairway, and patio. An addition was constructed to the home to create an entry gallery, laundry room, and bathroom areas.

Synthesis provided architectural design services including the design of interior spaces for this lakefront vacation residence. This two-story home is designed to take advantage of dramatic lake views, while nestling into an odd-shaped, steep, wooded site. The home was planned to maximize space and features a large outdoor deck and gazebo designed as an extension of the living space. A large central skylight organizes the open plan and large window groupings fill the space with natural light.

Synthesis designed this private residence on a site deemed unfit for building. The multi-angled design solution reflects the existing contours of the narrow plot of land and the focal point of the site, a ravine, is framed by views within the home’s interior.Flow through the house intersects the heart of its public space, the family room and kitchen. Sculptured ceilings and floor level changes define spaces and create a clean backdrop for the owner’s personal artwork.This home was featured in Homestyle magazine.
